India and the European Commission launched the EU-India Trade and Technology Council in February 2023 to increase bilateral cooperation. On 23 November 2023, the EU and India finalised a Memorandum of Understanding on Semiconductors, committing to further deepen cooperation on the semiconductor ecosystem, its supply chain and innovation.

In this framework, the first EU-India 1st Semiconductor Researchers Workshop was launched in Brussels on October 9th.
